TRS with Ape Grupo: Casa Decor 2020
As we have already mentioned, Casa Decor is an interior design, style and lifestyle platform with a unique format, held every year at a different location in the centre of Madrid. For a period of 6 weeks, the exhibition opens up one of the capital’s iconic and unique buildings to the public, accommodating around fifty spaces decorated by both established professionals and promising young people from the world of interior design. Casa Decor has been a benchmark for the interior decoration industry in Spain since 1992, with a strong media presence, prestige and credibility.
For the 55th edition, The Room Studio has had the privilege of participating with the design of the ‘Lost in Translation’ hotel suite. As we anticipated, this year we have collaborated with the APE Grupo brand with the collection The Hamptons of its brand Carmen to be able to carry it out.
APE Grupo is an industry leader in the creation of unique spaces, by offering an extensive range of design ceramics, advanced technical products and services that help customers to reach their optimum potential. It was formed as a business group in February 2016, bringing together two brands with more than 25 years’ experience and a technical office, Builk, which provides advanced architectural and interior design solutions.
Carmen is APE Grupo’s brand specialized in small size ceramic tiles and a declaration of love to the true ceramic essence: small size products with a decorative vocation. Touch have recovered and updated ceramic classics typical of the industrial history and Mediterranean handicraft. Its aim is to offer a range of delicate and technically evolved products that adapt to the needs of any project.
Ceramics have proven to be a stylish material with extraordinary expressive potential, brought to life with the help of technological innovation and the expertise of the very best designers. Another key contribution to this is digital printing, which has improved the production process and opened up the potential for producing various designs, patterns and textures.
The Hamptons is an exercise in ceramic formats and colour. It is a collection that was designed to be used as a creative tool, which is why we brought it to Casa Decor, as we believe this to be the perfect space for people to understand its spirit and decorative potential. The Hamptons is a ceramics collection that has taken a round trip, inspired by the Atlantic coastline of New York.
The Hamptons is a special collection where they use production techniques reintroduced from handicrafts systems. On the one hand, it’s composed of smaller versions of the classic tile formats. They also use a double firing system that allows them to reproduce a crackle glazed effect when desired.
Casa Decor is fully aware of the environmental problems that we currently face, so has thus launched the #CasaDecorSostenible campaign to demonstrate our real and palpable commitment to ensuring that our homes are built and inhabited sustainably. Numerous brands and participating interior designers have worked with sustainable products and projects for years, as is the case with APE Grupo, who is presenting a range of environmentally certified innovative materials at the exhibition. In fact, the ceramic products from APE Group are certified with the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and its offices have also been awarded the BREEAM® sustainability certificate.
We have thoroughly enjoyed and loved working with professionals like the APE Grupo team on this project. We thank you from the bottom of the trust and hope that you continue creating incredible pieces like the ones we found in Lost in Translation. Happy week everyone and don’t forget #TheRoomersEnCasa!
