JOSEP BERTRAND HOUSE
Functionality and aesthetics in a luxury home
This is a project of integral reform of a house of 200 m2 in Barcelona that customers had been waiting for years.
The space was compartmentalized and dark, which did not suit their needs. The renovation project focuses on increasing natural light in the house by creating large openings and removing walls, with special emphasis on solving the lack of natural light in the kitchen. The distribution is also modified to better adapt to these needs.
First of all, an entrance of natural light has been created from the access door to the home, which allows to extend the lighting, bringing natural light as far as possible into the house, achieving a feeling of spaciousness and brightness in the space.
In the kitchen area, an iron and glass partition has been used to create a semi-open space to the dining room. The ribbed glass in the lower part of the structure allows the passage of light, but without losing the privacy of the space, while the transparent glass in the upper part allows the view to the outside. This solution allows the layout of the sofa area to be optimal so as not to have to turn your back to the views and to be able to differentiate the living room into two areas: a space for relaxation and another to enjoy with friends and watch TV.
The dining area, being a place of passage, has been solved by placing a round table that brings fluidity to the space. In the hall and distributor area, in addition, it has been chosen to darken the walls opposite to the entrance of natural light to promote the contrast between the illuminated and dark areas. With this, we have sought to create a house with strong contrasts in lighting sensations to improve the aesthetics of the house and the perception of spaciousness.
As for the materials, high quality and durable components have been chosen. Hardwoods are used for the flooring and contemporary design furniture has been chosen to complement the style of the house and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Regarding the lighting, a lighting design has been made to recreate different scenes to be used depending on the mood, the time of day or the use given to the spaces. We have tried to emphasize indirect and ambient lights before those located on the ceiling to create more intimate lighting sensations.
In summary, the renovation project has focused on maximizing the functionality and aesthetics of the house through an intelligent distribution and a careful selection of materials, creating a bright and spacious space, adapted to the needs of customers and with a modern and attractive design, but respecting the exterior architecture of the building in which it is located. In addition, the surroundings and views have been taken into account, creating the maximum visual connection with the exterior.
