CASA DECOR 2022
‘The Last Dance’, a space that surrounds you and transforms into whatever you want it to be
When the idea of participating in Casa Decor 2022 together with GIRA came up, we thought of creating a space in which feeling at ease would be a requirement. A comfortable place that envelops you and allows you to relax, while at the same time being versatile: it can be located in a hotel lobby, in a private home or in a public place. Its function? Whatever you want: cocktail bar, screening room or library. A transformable space thanks to the use of home automation, which plays a key role in this project.
Without a doubt, it was clear to us that natural materials should be the pillar of our design, as well as their handcrafted transformation. We have natural chestnut wood, linen wall coverings and natural stone, such as dove white and campaspero, which allow us to play with delicate shapes and structures. The chromatic palette of earth tones brings harmony and sinuosity to the space, and is combined with the white clay mortar, a key element that offers a calm vision of the place.
In terms of content, we find the right and necessary elements, giving prominence to key pieces, such as the totem of viola calcatta stone, handmade with different textures and finishes that is given different uses: from a bar to a reception. Another type of natural stone, campaspero, clear and irregular, whose textures and shapes have been designed by us and can function as a shelf, a cocktail bar or a library, is located in the counterbar. In addition, its reflection on the ceiling, thanks to the arrangement of the mirror, produces the sensation of being in an infinite space.
The decorative elements that are arranged in the space are the Tekio lamp by Santa & Cole, made of Japanese paper, the curved sofa and stools with textiles by Güell Lamadrid, a low table by Ferm Living and three one-piece polished aluminum stools by the American firm Emeco. We also found a drawing made on the wall with clay mortar, designed by Pol Puigdomènech.
And how can we transform the space? Through lighting, programmed by home automation, which allows us to create different scenarios, according to our mood, our tastes or interests. Thanks to GIRA’s home automation, the luminaire is programmed to create very particular and different scenes, providing an orderly and harmonious scenography to the space. It was very important to offer strong lighting contrasts with different purposes so that this would be a place open to change and transformation.
