Orac Experience Center

The Orac Decor Experience Center has been created with a stunning and ‘Wow’ effect staging, where the products are displayed in an unprecedented way, aiming to become the company’s first international showroom.

This innovative showroom completely redefines the traditional concept, and each space has been meticulously designed to blend technology and tradition, creating stunning scenographic atmospheres. We wanted each space to be an innovative and scenographic experience, capturing attention while also being entirely ‘Instagrammable.’

The choice of a color palette that follows the standards used at Orac’s headquarters in Belgium for their catalogs was strategic. We have amplified this palette by designing monochromatic rooms to ensure a visual balance, guaranteeing that the product always takes center stage.

“The Cave” is a bold statement. Clad in nude color, its moldings form a rib-like perimeter, with sound-absorbing acoustic material that creates a subdued sound atmosphere. We used “Rockfont” and flexible “Orac” moldings to showcase the product’s versatility, capable of creating such a theatrical effect. To the right, the reception area is a striking “bite.” The lighting, except for the flexible “Xal” lamp, is indirect, simulating the movement of these “ribs” with waves and separating this space from the next, with a matching long nude curtain, ensuring a surprise factor and a clear “Wow” effect.

“The Exhibition Room” represents pure sobriety. The walls showcase Orac’s most iconic moldings and cornices, while three screens on the left wall offer unique audiovisual experiences that blend the classic with innovation. On the panels to the right, cabinets are represented by die-cuts with the profile of the moldings, backlit to reveal the product in a sophisticated and surprising way. Moreover, the sofa fabric is in a pastel green tone, hinting at the color of the next room, achieving a gradual visual transition. With this carefully chosen color scheme for all spaces, we ensure they have the same dialogue.

“The Immersive Room” returns to monochrome, this time in green, to highlight Orac products. Here, the mapping projector allows for cutting-edge audiovisual experiences and digital content. The central bar has been clad with Orac, and the tiered seating, emulating an amphitheater, makes this space unique. The bathrooms, covered in mirrors, are undoubtedly the most humorous part of the project, with visual trompe-l’oeil and customized sounds. You can hear everything from 80s music to jokes from Eugenio!

“Le Club,” with its ability to make you feel at home, is the ultimate room for hosting VIP events. The color palette in “Le Club” is characterized by serenity, with beige tones contrasting with touches of black. Finally, a small patio with natural light pays homage to Barcelona, featuring hydraulic tile flooring with green and terracotta tones. The lighting throughout the project is generously provided by “Vibia.”

If we go up the stairs, we reach the office area, where Orac’s signature colors are subtly integrated into the library’s cassettes, leaving the walls beige. We wanted the working area to exude calm and serenity.

At Orac, we have created an experience where history blends with innovation, with every corner meticulously designed to provide an unforgettable experience.

Welcome to a world of limitless elegance and creativity!

CASA TRES TORRES

Barcelona, a city well known for its architecture, hides secrets in many of its corners, and Casa Tres Torres is one of them. This house is captivating not only for its location, but also for its privacy, orientation and the light it receives.

It is a single-family house that was built in the 50’s and was enjoyed as a summer house. With an area of 450 m², its architecture was completely integrated into the urban fabric.

From the first meeting we had with the clients of this wonderful house, a synergy was established between their needs and what we were able to provide. This house is a clear example of what we often experience: clients hire an architect, who designs an overall project for them, but they want to further enhance the projected interiors. While the initial architectural design already reflected the family’s ambitions, we saw a great opportunity to optimize and enhance their interior spaces. Working together with the architectural firm, the studio developed the entire interior design project, an integral decoration project and our own construction company (The Room Work) the construction of the house was carried out.

There was a great restructuring work to accommodate their wishes: the entrance to the house was modified and the staircase of the house was relocated. The family wanted a house that would maximize natural light into the interiors, eliminating as many partitions and existing walls as possible, opening the spaces to each other and to the garden. The spaces were sweetened with arches achieving more fluid transitions, as was the staircase, which was treated with the delicacy of a sculpture, becoming the focal point, being visible from any angle.

From the entrance to the house presents a statement of intent in itself. The mirrors, strategically placed, amplify the spaces, hide the closets and project luminosity, offering a clear perspective to the garden.

On the other hand, all floors except in the wet areas were treated with natural wood parquet in 3D texture, inviting you to go barefoot to connect with every corner of the house. All the spaces on the first floor merge with the outdoor garden and have an exit to the east side. They wanted the connection to be maximum, to enjoy the good orientation of the house and to make it an extension of the house. Simultaneously, the kitchen was extended to the outside with a dining and chill-out area with barbecue to spend long hours with friends or family enjoying nature. The back of the house maintains the pool, already existing in the past, but all the coverings were changed, creating a sense of continuity and benches around it to access the pool and in turn be able to sit around it.

The upper floor is the family’s refuge: the master bedroom, the children’s bedroom and a central common area where the children can spend long periods of time playing. The master bedroom is a succession of open spaces that begin with the bathroom, which incorporates a hammam-style shower, and then move on to the dressing area connecting to the master suite.

The great height of the rooms was used to design a loft where the children could have a secret corner where they could read or play. In all the rooms the original wooden structure that gives so much personality to the project has been maintained.

The bathrooms have been designed each with a unique and differential character, but maintaining a joint harmony that does not clash in colors and textures.

All lighting has been meticulously designed to obtain lighting scenes that can transform the spaces according to the use that is given at all times. The control of the same, as well as audiovisuals, air conditioning and access controls has been done with a home automation system, ensuring an intelligent house adapted to the needs and preferences of the family.

Finally, all the walls of the noble areas have been coated with hydraulic lime that generates a breathability and movement to the surfaces that give it a special character. In short, a global project that demonstrates that when the existing architecture is merged with a detailed and contemporary interior design work, a space is created that not only preserves the stories of the past, but is ready to create new memories.

Vivienda Ganduxer

This spectacular apartment in the upper area of Barcelona has been converted from offices to housing. Ganduxer Housing is the second project of our clients, a couple and their daughter, which has prioritized the multipurpose and open spaces where natural materials predominate.

They wanted the renovation project to focus on creating a “home to live in”.

This apartment consists of a fully functional and spacious area, including the living room, kitchen and dining room. The following rooms that compose it are: a toilet, a complete suite with dressing room and dressing table, and a second bedroom with bathroom. In the central common area, three rooms coexist in perfect harmony. By eliminating walls and emphasizing rounded pillars, we have managed to provide sinuosity without breaking up the space. The furniture, with organic shapes and carefully selected, follows the same style, avoiding straight lines and alternating natural materials. We emphasize that throughout the house the wooden doors without frames, reaching up to the ceiling, emphasize the effect of perspective and amplitude. Being only one space, natural light penetrates easily from the living room, through the dining room and reaching the kitchen area. Neutral, earthy and white colors reign in this house, playing with touches of green and blue.

The kitchen area, which is clad in wood, plays with the parquet and visually expands the space. On the other hand, the oak wood cladding of the cabinets and the back wall allows hiding a door that gives access to the laundry room. It manages to bring sophistication and modernism thanks to the black touches in details such as the faucet, lights and stools. In the living room, a large carpet in blue tones, by CC-Tapis, stands out, which acts as a canvas, enhancing the neutral color palette. If we turn our eyes to the dining room, we contemplate how Vibia lamps provide a subtle division of spaces. These are suspended along a beautiful travertine table by Gubi, reminiscent of a sculpture carved in stone, combined with modern chairs model Dudet by Cassina. At the same time, we find sliding glass doors leading to a terrace with chill-out and dining area, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors and nature.

One of the essential needs transmitted by our clients was to dedicate a room to the powder room, and its walls have been decorated with natural linen paper. The result is a modern touch, but at the same time natural and coherent with the rest of the spaces. If we go to the children’s room, we find a small multipurpose room in which the greenish tones of the wall play with those of the bathroom. For the bathroom of the master suite, we were inspired by the concept of creating a spa, transmitting calm and well-being. We love the detail of the access door to the bathroom through the dressing room, which blends in with the walls of both rooms.

In short, this timeless design house with modern touches perfectly reflects the personality of our clients. It has managed to unify different spaces, softening lines and giving it that organic point that makes it so special. Nothing makes us happier that they have trusted us again for their second project, welcome home!

Chamberí Penthouse

In the middle of the hustle and bustle of Madrid, the city that never sleeps, in the neighborhood of Chamberí, you will find this 200 m2 penthouse to live and share as a couple.

The main message was very clear: he wanted a peaceful space where he could disconnect after a long day almost as if it were a sanctuary: quiet, serene and pure. An oasis in the center of the busy capital of Madrid. For this we used both shapes and subtle colors and materials, with a neutral and stable chromatic palette, so that nothing would draw too much attention and have concordance and uniformity throughout the house.

Originally the attic was dark and partitioned, with an infinite corridor connecting the different rooms. One of the main objectives was to make it look much bigger, brighter and more spacious. For this we have played a lot with the new distribution, merging rooms between them to avoid divisions and get the maximum possible natural lighting. We have also played with curved shapes, always treated to bring sweetness to the spaces. On the other hand, verticality is emphasized with the use of furniture with vertical lines and lights, which has allowed us to achieve the height that the apartment lacked.

The housing achieved does not lose any square meter. We have achieved this by merging the dressing room of the bedroom suite with what was the old hallway. To do this and to give more theatricality to the space has made a dressing room with a vaulted ceiling which in turn connects with the different parts that are integrated into the same dressing room: a small desk, a full bathroom and a vanity area. All this treated so that natural light is received in all environments.

The exterior part of the house communicates with the interior through three sliding doors that allow to merge the two environments. On the terrace there is a relaxation and chill out area and another more social area, to eat and meet with friends.

Another of the key points of the project is the integrated comfort: a lighting study has been carried out which, according to the use made of each of the spaces, can be modified through home automation designed specifically for this project. With this same home automation system we also control the air conditioning, blinds and audiovisuals, thus achieving the most efficient and practical use that can be made of this oasis of peace.

Anglí Tríplex

Peace, serenity, warmth and balance are some of the adjectives that come to mind when we talk about the Anglí Project: a triplex penthouse in Barcelona of 480 m2 divided between interior and terraces and with 360 degree views over Barcelona that leave no one indifferent.

The Clients dreamed of a bright, peaceful and sensitive home, and our goal was to improve their expectations by creating an oasis in the middle of the city where harmony and balance could be breathed in all spaces. To achieve this, the day and night areas were very well sectored, but maintaining a visual communication between them.

An elegant and cozy project was designed with the use of natural materials such as wood, stone and pigmented surfaces. The chromatic palette is composed of earth colors: browns, beiges and terracottas with some subtle points in green and petrol blue, achieving a design that has the virtue of welcoming and embracing those who cross the threshold of the door, full of soft shapes and poetic curves.

On the first floor, in addition to the children’s and guests’ rooms, the entire day area is located, where there is a very special corner: the library, a semi-open space towards the living room, but at the same time very secluded thanks to the fireplace that also serves as a divider with the rest of the living rooms; the perfect place to disconnect from the chaos of the city and get that feeling of urban oasis that the clients were looking for.

On the second floor is the master suite, a space with lots of natural light and a large dressing room. Also, there is access to the terrace with a wraparound living area, dining room, outdoor kitchen and an attractive pool that allows you to enjoy Barcelona from above.

The third floor is a fully glazed office bathed in natural light that enters and filters through every corner.

Great care was also taken with the lighting project, enhancing the sensations that the distribution of spaces creates. Thanks to the use of integrated control within the initial design concept, the range of possibilities is guaranteed, being able to create different lighting and environmental scenes depending on the use given to each area of the house.

Mallorca House

Alvar Aalto used to say that “Man cannot create without simultaneously destroying”, and in this charming 200 m2 apartment located in the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample we have adopted this philosophy to give life to a space that perfectly embodies the beauty of transformation. A renovation project that has managed to revitalize an apartment that lacked charm and personality, turning it into a cozy second home for our distinguished Clients, who are passionate about the city of Barcelona.

The house had several pre-existences that could not be changed, such as common ducts that have been integrated into the design, and very clear needs on the part of the Clients: they wanted to preserve and enhance the Mediterranean charm of Barcelona, a cozy atmosphere with lots of natural light, flowing, giving priority to open spaces and bedrooms. We found an elegant and serene environment that integrates contrasting details that reflect the personality of the couple: she is a cheerful and extroverted person, lover of bright colors and textures, while he prefers relaxed environments. To achieve the perfect balance, a neutral base has been chosen in the design, adding touches of color in the decoration.

The new layout of the apartment is organized around a large and elegant central hall that divides the space into two very distinct areas. The day area, which is structured as a large open space, bright and welcoming, where the kitchen, living room and dining room are integrated in perfect harmony. The kitchen, for example, has a light and structural central island that rises from the floor, exposing the beautiful colored ceramic tiles of the floor.

On the other side of the apartment is the sleeping area, fully functional and comfortable. The clients wanted three bedrooms: a suite for themselves, one for their son and an additional one to receive their visitors. In this part of the house every corner has been used to the maximum.

The lighting project has been key to achieve different atmospheres. The abundance of natural light is enhanced thanks to the new distribution and the opening of spaces. In addition, the artificial lighting has been meticulously worked on, creating unique and versatile lighting environments that adapt to the different needs of the Clients. Indirect lights have been incorporated to enhance the architecture and details of the house, decorative lamps that provide warmth and personality and recessed spotlights that offer functional and adaptable lighting.

The choice of natural and high quality materials has been essential to provide the space with warmth and authenticity. In the noble areas of the house, such as the living room and bedrooms, there is an elegant herringbone parquet that adds a point of sophistication and classic style to the environment. For the more functional areas, such as the kitchen and bathrooms, resistant and durable materials have been chosen, such as ceramic and porcelain tiles, which add a modern and coherent touch to the overall design.

The furniture made to measure in wood is one of the most remarkable aspects as it has been designed to make the most of every corner and available space, optimizing storage and functionality of housing, while maintaining stylistic consistency and warmth that brings natural wood.

In short, this renovation project has managed to transform an old and compartmentalized apartment into a modern and bright home that reflects the Mediterranean essence of Barcelona and the balance between the personalities of the owners. The home has become a true oasis of tranquility in the vibrant heart of Barcelona and is the perfect example of how the beauty of transformation can bring a space to life. Welcome to this exciting journey!

Balmes House

This is a comprehensive refurbishment project in a 200 m2 home located in a regal estate in the Sant Gervasi-Galvany district of Barcelona for a young couple who have just become parents.

The space is divided into two distinct parts: the bedroom and living room area, which is on the outside and is very bright, and the water and service area that overlooks an interior communal courtyard, which is much darker. This is why we sought to make a series of openings in the exterior wall to enhance the projection of natural light into the interior, especially into the kitchen, where we find sliding glass doors that allow light to enter and even see the exterior.

With regard to the architecture, as it is a regal estate, we have tried to maintain and respect it as much as possible by conserving the cornices, mouldings, jambs and panelling of the original building. At the same time, contemporary furniture and materials have been introduced to give the space an exquisite modernity, but always respecting the originality of the house.

The lighting has been improved in all the rooms, creating pleasant lighting atmospheres. Warm and indirect light has been used to transform the different rooms according to the client’s needs and the sensations sought. The whole house is domotised to be able to control the light, blinds and air conditioning, which allows different atmospheres to be recreated throughout the day.

In terms of materials, noble woods are used, parquet with Hungarian tips in some spaces and straight slats in others to emphasise the spaciousness and separate the different rooms. We also find natural stones, for example in the fireplace in the living room and marble in the guest bathroom.

The master suite is made up of different spaces that have been unified to become a true oasis of peace and disconnection. The dressing room and the water area merge, creating a kind of spa that culminates in a freestanding bathtub in the gallery area.

In order to make the home enveloping from the first step inside, the lines have been softened to maximise the space and give it a more organic and contemporary feel, without losing the essence of the original architecture. In short, the renovation project has focused on maximising the entry of natural light into the home without losing the essence of the house but giving it a modern and contemporary look that is at the same time organic and relaxing.

JOSEP BERTRAND HOUSE

This is a project of integral reform of a house of 200 m2 in Barcelona that customers had been waiting for years.

The space was compartmentalized and dark, which did not suit their needs. The renovation project focuses on increasing natural light in the house by creating large openings and removing walls, with special emphasis on solving the lack of natural light in the kitchen. The distribution is also modified to better adapt to these needs.

First of all, an entrance of natural light has been created from the access door to the home, which allows to extend the lighting, bringing natural light as far as possible into the house, achieving a feeling of spaciousness and brightness in the space.

In the kitchen area, an iron and glass partition has been used to create a semi-open space to the dining room. The ribbed glass in the lower part of the structure allows the passage of light, but without losing the privacy of the space, while the transparent glass in the upper part allows the view to the outside. This solution allows the layout of the sofa area to be optimal so as not to have to turn your back to the views and to be able to differentiate the living room into two areas: a space for relaxation and another to enjoy with friends and watch TV.

The dining area, being a place of passage, has been solved by placing a round table that brings fluidity to the space. In the hall and distributor area, in addition, it has been chosen to darken the walls opposite to the entrance of natural light to promote the contrast between the illuminated and dark areas. With this, we have sought to create a house with strong contrasts in lighting sensations to improve the aesthetics of the house and the perception of spaciousness.

As for the materials, high quality and durable components have been chosen. Hardwoods are used for the flooring and contemporary design furniture has been chosen to complement the style of the house and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Regarding the lighting, a lighting design has been made to recreate different scenes to be used depending on the mood, the time of day or the use given to the spaces. We have tried to emphasize indirect and ambient lights before those located on the ceiling to create more intimate lighting sensations.

In summary, the renovation project has focused on maximizing the functionality and aesthetics of the house through an intelligent distribution and a careful selection of materials, creating a bright and spacious space, adapted to the needs of customers and with a modern and attractive design, but respecting the exterior architecture of the building in which it is located. In addition, the surroundings and views have been taken into account, creating the maximum visual connection with the exterior.

Hatria Offices

Initially we started with offices that had already been generically refurbished, with no specific use. A completely diaphanous space, bare, without divisions, with a raised floor and generalized lighting.

The objective was to accommodate it for a heritage company, providing it with warmth, balance and harmony. The challenge was to convert an office space, which is usually cold and without personality, into a very familiar, cozy, elegant and sober place. The use of wood and curved shapes have been combined to transmit the feeling of serenity that the client was looking for.

A distribution has been designed according to these needs. It had to be fluid and harmonious, both in the meeting rooms and in common areas, office, reception and offices for managers. One of these offices had to be focused on more personal meetings and the other on a more institutional treatment, without losing the casual tone, which would encourage relaxed and close conversations. Therefore, the interior design and decoration had to be elegant but personal, far from cold and hieratic.

The two meeting rooms, set up for shareholders’ meetings or committees, had to accommodate 8-10 people and 4-6 people respectively, while at the same time transmitting spaciousness and comfort. This objective was achieved by creating curved walls that run through the spaces and accommodate the large tables that preside over the two rooms. The interior design, therefore, is stripped of sometimes rigid parameters, adapting to the real needs of the project.

Large windows ran along the walls of these rooms, letting in the light from the outside. To ensure that it reaches all the offices, a segmentation of spaces with large windows has been created, which allows a great communication both visually and luminosity, and at the same time dialogues with the curved and sinuous shapes that welcome the route in a friendly way.

The difficulty we encountered when defining this segmentation was the presence of large pillars located in the middle of the space. They were completely covered by incorporating them into the partitions, covered with chestnut wood and glass partitions.

The planned offices were to have a more intimate character, but at the same time they were to be transparent and open, with light coming in from the façade. This privacy was reinforced once again with the distribution of the spaces, so that they would be out of sight from the reception area. In this way, the desired intimacy and privacy were preserved without having to install opaque enclosures, but rather glazed walls that filtered natural light.

For the floor, we introduced a technical flooring with light carpeting throughout the space, thus creating a counterpoint of materials and an environment with acoustic comfort and light in the interior.

Lighting is basic in all our projects, and in this case it has been integrated into the project according to the characteristics of the space: we have taken advantage of the height of the perimeter airs and the separation with partitions and the spaces have been arranged by height, indirectly illuminating them. In addition, each room has been illuminated punctually with decorative lighting.

This is a project that has used noble materials, light colors and touches of black that create comforting interiors, as they have the virtue of mixing elegance and sobriety with a modern and timeless style.

Juno House Club (Part I: La Nave)

Click here to read Part II: La Farinera

Juno House is a social club for women. It was a non-existent concept in Spain until then, with a very specific program of needs. It had to be ready in record time: the creative concept and its development were presented in two months.

It consists of two spaces: La Nave and La Farinera. Both with different needs but with the same aesthetic language.

Project part I: La Nave

La Nave was a large empty space, totally bare, without segmentations, and with a very marked air and industrial style of an old workshop. It had to be given a more feminine, sweeter aesthetic, without forgetting the soul of what it had been. It was designed to be a social space and also where you could work.

It is divided into 3 differentiated zones through the change of pavement and segmentation of spaces with a forceful central axis in terms of form and use.

Upon entering the Warehouse, the reception area houses a waiting room and a shop, for business development between members and for merchandising. It seeks to look like a box, and it achieves this by using the color palette studied for the project, with a homogeneous nude color on the wall and surface tiles. Ornamental finishes with round, sinuous shapes are introduced, thinking of the sensuality of women.

In the background, a restaurant with signature cuisine is designed with a wider bar for show cooking, with tables and furniture made to measure.

Both spaces are divided by a sculptural iron staircase, made of a single piece and covered in white. The bathrooms, located next door, introduce the color navy blue with gold touches, and are custom made for the space.

In the central part of Juno there is an area for rest, with a multipurpose central stage. Behind, a mural designed exclusively for Juno, with the rounded shapes of the space. On the opposite side there is an enclosure made with oak slats and a roof lined with clay mortar.

In the third division there is a chill out area with diverse vegetation and with the same clay mortar coating, which enters the walls of the different conference rooms. This creates a visual relationship between spaces.

The last room is Juno’s library, whose walls are the deepest color in the palette. The entrance through an arched door makes the transition to this space different. The wave-shaped acoustic ceiling and its indirect lighting create a contrasting and refined visual perspective.
