Dream pieces: recover old objects

30.01.2019

We are back! We started the year launching a new website and a new image of the Studio. We are very happy to share all these changes with you and here you have the first post of 2019. To start this new phase, we have called this special section “The Room Papers“. It is a place where you can exchange options, ideas and tips on decoration and interior design. Leave us your comments on topics that you want us to talk about… Let’s start!

In the post this week we will talk about old pieces, objects that we can recover and that we can include in our home making it special. In The Room Studio we are followers of the antique shops and small shops with magic, where we can spend hours and hours discovering treasures. We can find small decorative pieces, wooden facades, doors, furniture and we can give them a new life. The materials may need cleaning and treatment to return them to their natural state. We can play with these objects to give them a different use and bring that unique touch to the room.

In addition to antique dealers, we can find objects from previous generations that, changing the upholstery or color, can become the centerpiece of our living room. There are many options that can be combined to get a piece of decoration different and with character. The combination of these old elements with other contemporaries, create a very balanced environment away from the conventional. In addition to the aesthetic part, a sensitive touch is included in each piece with a story that makes the scene much more magical. The contrast of classic pieces with modern forms creates a fresh and very renewed atmosphere with a warm and rustic climate.

We leave you some ideas that can inspire you. For an office we can use an old door to create a desk, reinforced with a resistant glass to avoid damaging it. It can include doors recovered at the entrance of the house as a decorative piece that we can use as doors for cabinets. Decorate our home with old paintings that we can update by changing the frame and its color. Also we can recover hydraulic parts and include them either as a coating or as an object of decoration. We can find lots of combinations to include in our homes.

Next, we leave you some images of pieces that we have included in some of our projects. We hope you like it and can apply it!
