Integrate technology in design

06.03.2019

In today’s post I would like to reflect on a constantly updated topic, Domotic VS Design. The idea comes from my last conference at CasaDecor Madrid, to which I would like to thank Gira for his invitation to this presentation and also thank all the attendees for their attention and reflection. Here is a brief summary of what was explained and discussed, for me it is a pleasure to share it with all of you.

First of all, I would dare to say that in home automation there has been a before and after the Interior Design. We should be aware that we are not talking about home automation 20 years ago, the one that failed everywhere and that many customers are afraid of. We refer to the KnX system, a universal language that made life easier for everyone.

The supporters of home automation, we incorporate it into our projects naturally in an interior design project. Just like when we bought a car, we did not ask if the car has a centralized lock, nor electric windows, air conditioning, twilight in the front lights… why do we have to question the comfort of a home? With comfort I mean total comfort, the one that can control everything we want when we want. It is the one that at night allows us to create light scenes or to hear that song when we enter our house. It is also the one that, with the push of a button, I have everything we need at a sensory level. That is the whole, the complete integration, which makes the project a journey of sensations.

How can we integrate it into the design?

It must be integrated in a simple way and respecting the needs of each client, it is managed from a simple screen on the wall or from our own mobile device. We can not see it even if it exists, so it can not affect the design of the house, its furniture or architecture. It will simply become a conscious and intelligent house. We save by placing many switches that confuse us about what light we want to turn on or off and we have a good time discovering what they are for.

Design VS Technology

We live between technology, why not incorporate it completely? We must be aware that it is also efficient, so we will obtain greater energy savings. We must also understand that it makes our life easier, it allows us to enjoy the little things, and a machine that we have programmed to do the rest for us. We encourage you to take advantage of it.

Can domotics influence a space?

Totally, I can not imagine entering a house and start lighting lamps, regular intensities, lower blinds even electric, put the temperature I need room by room… Simply the fact of being able to push a button and create a light scene when it falls the night and having controlled the temperature of the house, is influenced by home automation. Although it is not seen, it is felt, and this is basic to achieve immediate comfort. At the contract level it would be the same way, having controlled the moments according to the influx, the hours of the day, the night, etc.

We ask you: what is a good design if the entrails are not thought? What is a good design if there is no energy consciousness? or what is a good design if there is not a good previous light study? The answers would be a design without anything else. If to all this we apply integrity, technology, functionality and simplicity of use, we have a good design. It is the one that combines comfort with functionality and that is given by home automation, although we like to use the word integration because in the end, everything is going on.
