A kitchen with a view of the dining room

10.10.2018

The autumn has arrived! We love this time of year where we can enjoy the days at home without suffering the heat. We welcome the cold, now we can start to change the meals outdoors by our indoor dining rooms.

In The Room Studio, we bet on the open spaces where there is communication between the different rooms of the house. Places where harmony is breathed between all the rooms, obtaining a homogeneous and studied coordination. Therefore, our proposal for this season is to open the kitchens to the dining room. There are different ways to carry out this opening, our preferred are the ones that we present below.

On the one hand, there is the possibility of opening the space without any type of element that breaks through the different areas. In these cases, we chose to include an island or peninsula in the kitchen with a couple of stools. It allows us to obtain more support surface and to be able to separate the breakfast area from more formal areas. Finally, we would obtain a space that does not look empty and to which we add functionality and practicality.

If we want both open rooms, but that differentiate the kitchen area of the dining room, we propose to make a change of pavement. This will prevent the material we use in the rest of the house from deteriorating, we will be able to place a more resistant one in the area where it will be cooked.

On the other hand, our favorite option is to divide the spaces through large windows. This choice can help us not to disperse the smells for the rest of the house, or to separate the noises that we can cause by cooking. We give them an industrial approach, including them in the decoration of the house and using the colors with continuity. We can include translucent crystals to obtain more intimate areas, allowing light to penetrate but with less clear visibility of the interior. In the passage area, we can include sliding doors to open the passage to the dining room.

We hope we could help and inspire you to design this type of space. More and more these areas become meeting spaces, so we encourage you to open them and get more light in the area. Next, we leave you a some images of our projects where we have applied this trend. Hope you liked it!
